Indian model and “Top Chef” host Padma Lakshmi posed pregnant and nude for Page Six magazine in December 2009 and she says she is proud of the photos saying there is a difference between a “beautiful photo and an exploited photo.”
“I think those are beautiful pictures and they hang in our design studio and my daughter passes those pictures every day,” she told FoxNews.com’s Pop Tarts blog. “I think a woman’s body is one of the most beautiful creations on this Earth and it’s not what you do, it’s how you do it. Michelangelo did nudes too.”
“It’s hard. It’s a balancing act and every day is different and you just have to know what your priorities are and that the little one comes first,” she said. “I’m very lucky that my network is very, very supportive of my family and the fact that I have a child who is young. We have a nursery on set and it’s right next door to my dressing room and we just work around it. I’m not unlike any mother. I don’t have all the answers, and I just try my best.”
Lakshmi’s daughter Krishna, 1, father is Adam Dell the brother of billionaire Dell founder Michael Dell.
Padma says about daughter Krishna, “I totally have a foodie on my hands,” she told the magazine. “She doesn’t like leftovers and she eats homemade food. She’s never had store-bought baby food. Right now she’s on a Tuscan kale kick!”
The ” Top Chef” star was married to novelist Salman Rusdie whom she met in 1999 they married in 2004 and later divorced in 2007.
