Jeffrey Atkins, aka Ja Rule began his two-year prison sentence yesterday for his conviction of possessing a loaded gun four years ago after a traffic stop in New York.
Rule plans on using his time in an upstate New York facility completing his GED, writing a book and learning to play the guitar, according to the AP.
“Laws are laws,” Ja Rule told ‘Good Day New York.’ “There’s nothing I could really do but own up to the situation. You know, I try not to regret anything I do in life, because you go through life and you do things, and you man up to them. You own them.”
The rapper and actor, 35, was stopped for speeding in his Maybach in 2007, officers found a .40 caliber semiautomatic gun in his car which is illegal in New York.
The singer is also facing a 3 year sentence for tax evasion on more than $3 million of income.
