The devastating suicide of Russell Armstrong has shaken the stars of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. But the other stunning news was the apparent suicide of Russell’s close friend and business associate, Alan Schram.
Taylor Armstrong is reportedly reeling from the tragic news of both her husband’s suicide, but the talk among the other Beverly Hills Housewives was the odd coincidence of Schram’s suicide, the day after Russell took his own life in another friend’s home on Mulholland Drive. Schram also lived on the iconic L.A. street.
Schram was found outside of his car with a fatal self-inflicted wound to his head. The L.A. County Coroner’s Office ruled the death a suicide.
Radar Online quoting its “insider” describes the Armstrongs and Schrams as very “good couples friends.” Schram’s wife was in Israel at the time of incident.
“Taylor wants to speak to Alan’s wife,” Radar’s source said. “However, she is in Israel, and Taylor has been unable to reach her. Taylor is dealing with one-two punch with these double suicides.”
Schram was a managing partner of Los Angeles-based hedge fund Wellcap. He also wrote about finance for the Huffington Post.
According to the Huffington Post website, Schram served as an officer in the Israeli Air Force and is a veteran of the Gulf War.
He was a graduate of UCLA’s prestigious Anderson School of Management’s executive program.
Hollywood and Beverly Hills are both abuzz about what caused these two friends and business associates to commit suicide within 24 hours and just blocks aways from each other. Adding to the mystery and intrigue — both men were active members of Tiger 21, a group of investors who reviewed and analyzed each other’s financial portfolios.
At Russell’s funeral, people reported to the media that they heard Taylor and the other Real Housewives stars talking about how shocked they were that the two men killed themselves.
Russell and Taylor appeared on the hit Bravo reality show where she revealed her past as a victim domestic violence. Russell was portrayed by the show and its Housewives stars as the villain.
They were both experiencing the media’s glare with reports of the collapse of their marriage and the spiraling debt of $1.5 million.
Russell spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on Taylor to keep up the tony Housewives image. But it’s only the ladies of the show who are paid $275,000 each for “their reality.”
After calling Russell all day because he missed an important appointment with her, Taylor went with a friend to find him at the Mulholland Drive home where he was staying. Taylor’s friend saw Russell hanging through a window.
The story immediately gained around-the-clock news coverage.
Housewives costars Kyle Richards, Lisa Vanderpump and Adrienne Maloof came to the funeral at Forest Lawn cemetary to support Taylor. The tension in this season’s Housewives of Beverly Hills may have caused the other stars — Kim Richards and Camille Grammer — to not attend.
The death of the two men will certainly generate much speculation because no suicide notes were found in both incidents.
