Madonna: Never Before Published Photos Before She Became An Icon

In 1982 Madonna met Seymour Stein the president of Sire records who signed her to an album deal after hearing her single “Everybody”. Madonna not happy with the production value of the finished product asked her boyfriend John “Jellybean” Benitez to remix many of the tracks with the first being “Holiday” which went on to become her first song to chart on the Billboard Hot 100. Sire went on to release 4 more singles from her debut album and to date  Madonna’s self-titled album has sold 10 million copies worldwide.

Since 1982 Madonna has become the worlds best selling female artist with 210 million albums and 65 million singles sold worldwide.

A year before Madonna released her self-titled album on July 27, 1983 by Sire Records she invited photographer Richard Corman to photograph her in and around New York City.
